Once you have approved your quotation a booking date will be decided between you and our sales team. The booking date is generally within 2 - 4 weeks. The work will begin at 9am on your date and for most attics up to a 4 bed size would take 1 full day.
In order to be eligible for the SEAI Attic Insulation Grant, your property must fall under these parameters:
1. Built before 2006.
2. A full roof solution. (This means dormers are usually not eligible).
3. You must own the property.
4. Attic Insulation Grant was not claimed by you/previous owner.
Although both products are excellent at insulating your home, the products differ in a number of ways. Spray foam is a polyurethane material, like you would find in your bedding , furniture , car seats etc. Mineral wool is made from glass, stone and resins. Spray Foam is usually installed at rafter level in your attic whereas mineral wool is rolled out between and over your ceiling joists. The major difference on a heat retention point of view is that Spray foam has the ability to create an airtight seal and can easily cover difficult to access areas.
It is true that too much insulation can cause condensation issues. The opposite is also true. The ideal scenario which we set out to achieve through all our projects, is a perfect balance of insulation and ventilation. An in depth assessment will determine if your attics current ventilation systems are up to the spec needed to add insulation. This concept is the same for any type of insulation we use, with great attention to the specifications set out by ‘ Part l of The Building Regulations’ - gov.ie - Technical Guidance Document L - Conservation of Fuel and Energy – Dwellings
Studies show that up to 35% of the heat in your home can escape through the attic or roof. By upgrading your attic insulation to meet current standards, you could reduce heat loss and save up to at least 35% annually on your heating bills.
